Speed up Your Research: Introduction to Parallel Computing

2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.

Join Research Infrastructure Services (RIS) in this hands-on training session: Introduction to Parallel Computing using C and OpenMP. This workshop is designed to take you from serial programming to writing efficient, multi-threaded applications.

Prerequisites:You must have familiarity with the Linux command line and Active RIS compute allocation.

What you’ll learn:

  • The Fundamentals: Understanding shared memory systems.
  • Directive-Based Programming: How to use #pragma omp to parallelize loops effortlessly.
  • Synchronization: Handling data races and using barriers.
  • Performance Tuning: Identifying bottlenecks in your C code.

Why attend:

As datasets grow, serial computing is no longer enough. Mastering OpenMP allows you to scale your research and make the most of our center’s high-performance resources.

Registration required. This training will take place on Zoom; you will automatically receive a calendar invite that includes the Zoom link after registration.
