The Research Management System (RMS) upgrade was successfully updated into the RMS Production environment on Monday, December 16, 2024.
Before accessing RMS, please clear your cache. Instructions can be found on the RMS webpage under “RMS Troubleshooting.”
Upgrade Notable Changes:
- Record Creation Process – The 7 Steps to New eForm
- When creating a new PD record, instead of the 7 Steps, there will be a new eForm called “WU Initial Setup” form.
- WU forms/tabs will display as the following:
- WU Initial Setup
- Setups Questions
- WU Additional Setup
- Check/text boxes will be aligned to the left and the font size will be increased.
- Help texts and page instructions were updated.
- WU tabs (ex: WU Additional Setup tab, WU Full Review Docs tab)
- The attachment file name will be displayed in the field.
- Budget tab – Aesthetic Changes
- Proposal Development (PD) > Budget Summary – Budget table at top of page
- PD > Subproject – Screen when adding a Subproject
- Proposal Tracking (PT) > Award Increment – Budget table
- Budget tab – Subprojects
- If a Subproject has duplicate Subawards to the same institution, you will retain access to that Subproject.
- Budget tab – F&A Issue
- Top/Bottom F&A tables should match.
- Budget tab – F&A Issue
- Manual F&A exclusions will display correctly in all budget periods.
- Subaward Institution – UEI
- The UEI will show within the dropdown field when searching for a Subaward.
- PT – Attachments
- New drag and drop functionality for uploading attachments.
- PT – Award Increment Creation
- Time-out server errors should be resolved.
- SF424 – FORMS-I updates were incorporated with the upgrade.
- New: Upcoming Submission Deadlines widget on the RMS Home Page
- It has been renamed from Proposals Due to Upcoming Submission Deadlines
- It has been expanded from single-page to double-page width
- Additional columns were added: Title, Department, Status, Sponsor
- Users who did not previously have the Proposals Due widget enabled, will also not have the new widget on their Home Page.
- Users may enable the new widget in Portal Configurations (bottom right of the Home Screen).
Possible Issues and Work-Arounds:
- The Copy Record functionality, to create parent records, is not available. As a workaround, create a child record which can be migrated to/from the parent record as needed, or create a new parent record.
- In the Budget tab, when creating a Budget Version, users may be redirected to PT instead of PD. If you experience this, close PT and go back to PD > Budget tab.
- In the Budget tab, for S2S applications, when you click “Build PDF”, the PDF will open, but the Budget tab will remain spinning. To stop this, reload/refresh the Budget tab.
- In the Budget Detail tab, when entering more than “1” in the # of Personnel field for non-key, the Person Months calculation is incorrect. As a workaround, use Effort to calculate personnel costs.
- New Issue: For Modular S2S applications, both the Detailed and Modular budget form are checked by default. As a workaround, uncheck the Detailed budget form.
