The 2024 NIH Public Access policy went into effect July 1, 2025. The university has updated Public Access guidance and resources to support researchers in complying with NIH requirements.
As a reminder, the most significant change in the new policy is the removal of the 12-month embargo period before manuscripts resulting from NIH funding must be made publicly available.
The updated NIH policy requires Author Accepted Manuscripts (AAMs) accepted for publication in a journal, on or after July 1, 2025, to be submitted to PubMed Central (PMC) upon acceptance for publication, for public availability without embargo upon the Official Date of Publication.
