Research Management System (RMS) Outages – Update

Published January 9, 2026, via Research News

As an update to the notification below, we identified a short-term workaround for large records with over 20 subprojects. On Thursday, January 8, 2026, OSRS contacted the administrative/departmental owners of 59 PD Records with over 20 subprojects.

With our vendor, we are still investigating potential long-term solutions. Our vendor is working on a patch that will isolate COI from experiencing degradation or slowness caused by the PD/PT modules. Further work will be done to improve the PD/PT modules.  We will reevaluate how WashU utilizes the PD/PT record parent-child relationship.

Workaround for copying large records with over 20 subprojects

  • Do not go into the parent record via PT to create the next child record (which would copy data from the parent record).
  • Users should copy the latest, or most relevant parent/child record, following the standard copy procedures.
  • Afterward, email your OSRS GA and the RMS-OSRS Inbox with the record number that you created.
  • OSRS will then migrate the record to the parent record and re-number it to the next child record number related to the application.

If you experience any RMS slowness, server errors, or anything unexpected, please contact the RMS-OSRS Inbox ASAP.

If you have any questions, or concerns please contact Teri Medley.
