A streamlined refresher course to meet ongoing Research Security Training (RST) requirements is now available in Workday Learning. The existing course used to complete RST requirements, Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Online Training, is a one-time prerequisite to the new refresher course and contains more detailed information.
- If you have previously completed Responsible Conduct of Research, the new Research Security Refresher course is available. Check the RCR course page or your transcript to see your last completion date.
- If you have not previously completed Responsible Conduct of Research, you must complete this initial course one time before the refresher becomes accessible.
- You do not need to complete both courses at the same time.
Research Security Training Refresher is not automatically assigned. Those who are required to complete the training must self-enroll and complete the training when needed.
Updates to WashU’s Policy
The Research Security Training Policy has been updated to require PI/PDs, Co-PI/PDs, and Investigators to complete RST for any funding agencies that require the training. Funding agencies may have broader requirements for who is required to complete training.

- Research Security Training Refresher (this course has a 1 year expiration date)
- On Workday reports: Select both courses when running reports
- Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Online Training
- Research Security Training Refresher
