Federal Research Updates

Published January 24, 2025, via Research News

WashU is closely monitoring the release of Presidential Executive Orders. The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research (OVCR) has published a Federal Research Updates webpage to house information about how Executive Orders may impact federal agencies and their sponsored research. This webpage will be updated as additional guidance is made available.

Summary of key guidance as of 1/24/2025:

Proposals

  • Proposals should continue to be submitted in accordance with the published Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO).
  • The NOFO, including the proposal deadline, may be revised. Continue to check for updated NOFOs for proposals that are in development.
  • Agencies may have delays in proposal review timelines.

Awards

  • The terms and conditions of an executed award remain enforceable so long as an award is active. This includes the ability to invoice and receive reimbursement.
  • Changes are expected in requirements for research compliance and award reporting. These changes may come directly from the federal agency, or on a project-by-project basis.
  • Promptly follow all instructions from your Program Officer to ensure compliance and avoid jeopardizing funding.
