Loan Repayment Program (LRP) applications are due on November 20, 2025. It is uncertain if this deadline will be extended due to the government shutdown.
During the shutdown, NIH is not sending the normal LRP notification emails, so OSRS is not being notified when someone submits an LRP application. Also, Teri Medley is unable to log into NIH eRA Commons and will not be able to regain access until after the shutdown. Therefore, LRP applicants should list Tanya Sawyer as the IBO and CHITWN62208 should be listed as Tanya’s eRA Commons ID.
The procedures document in the September 30, 2025 Research News, has been updated to indicate that LRP applications should list Tanya Sawyer as the IBO.
If applicants already listed Teri Medley as the IBO, she is not aware of them since emails are not being sent by NIH and Teri is not able to log into eRA Commons. Applicants should change the IBO to Tanya Sawyer. If they are unable to they should notify NIH at lrp@nih.gov to ask that they change the IBO to Tanya Sawyer, or open up access to the application so that it can be changed by the applicant. Note that NIH likely will not respond or do anything until after the shutdown.
If issues impact the applicant’s ability to submit their LRP application on time, they should submit an eRA Commons help web ticket.
