NIH & NSF DMSP Updates and New Requirements

10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.

Recent federal updates to Data Management & Sharing (DMS) requirements may impact upcoming NIH and NSF grant submissions.

For NIH: NIH released updated elements of the Data Management & Sharing Plan (NOT-OD-26-046), including a new required format page. These changes are **effective for applications submitted with due dates on or after May 25, 2026.

For NSF: The National Science Foundation issued changes via the Proposal & Award Policies & Procedures Guide (PAPPG 24-1 Supplement 2), which apply to all financial assistance awarded on or after January 22, 2026. A new Research.gov tool for creating NSF DMSPs will be implemented on April 27, 2026.

In this workshop, participants will review:

  • Updated NIH DMSP format page elements and expectations, effective May 25, 2026
  • Recent NSF DMS requirements and reporting change timeline, including Research.gov tool rollout April 27, 2026
  • Key differences between NIH and NSF approaches
  • Practical steps for preparing compliant DMSPs

Designed for faculty, research administrators, and research support staff, this session will focus on actionable guidance to help you align proposals with current federal expectations.

Time will be reserved for questions and discussion.
