NIH eRA Commons Account Requests

How to Request an NIH eRA Commons Account

Please complete the  NIH Commons ID Request [PDF].

Forward the completed form to your applicable Department Administrator. Your Department Administrator will set up your account. You will be contacted by NIH via email with account access and password information.

NIH eRA Commons Account Set-up Steps for Department and Research Administrators

  • Log in to eRA Commons at  https://public.era.nih.gov/commons/.
  • Click the “Account Management (Admin)” box.
  • Click “Accounts”.
  • Click “Account Management”.
  • Search for the person to make sure they do not already have an account.
    • Fill in Last Name.
    • Fill in First Name.
    • Click “Search”.
  • If the person does not come up, click “Create New Account”.
  • Select Commons for “User Type”.
  • Enter desired “User ID”.
  • Enter “Contact Information”.
  • Click “+ Add Roles”.
  • Select desired roles and click “Add Role(s)”.
  • Click the “Create” button.
  • NIH will email the user with account access and password information.
